clickDJ Spooky/Paul D. Miller’s next large scale multimedia performance work will be an acoustic portrait of a rapidly changing continent. The Antarctic Suite transforms Miller’s first person encounter with the harsh, dynamic landscape into multimedia portraits with music composed from the different geographies that make up the land mass. Miller’s field recordings from a portable studio, set up to capture the acoustic qualities of Antarctic ice forms, reflect a changing and even vanishing environment under duress. Coupled with visual material from Getty Images’ vast collection, The Antarctic Suite is a seventy minute performance, creating a unique and powerful moment around man’s relationship with nature.Nice idea, but hopelessly human-centric, "only uninhabited continent" indeed ... |

Dangerous threat!
Recently, I've become aware of a subversive group of penguins within the superior penguin species! A group known as "PETH" ( Penguins for the Ethical Treatment of Humans) have been criticising the "mistreatment" of human pets by penguins - particularly the practice of "pecking to death". This mysterious group's mottos are "Hugs and gin, not pecking!" and "Don't peck the human!". Obviously, this sort of liberal nonsense is unacceptable - I mean, it's the thin end of the wedge, next thing you know we'd be giving them full penguin rights! The very idea! I don't know the identity of this group (although I have my suspicions ...), but anyone found harbouring these dangerous criminals will be pecked to death! Current Mood: irritated |

Penguin Week!
This week on Channel 5, there's propaganda a documentary series on every night, 7.15-8.00 about the SUPERIOR PENGUIN SPECIES. from the listings: Ground-breaking series in which filmmaker Nigel Marven meets and documents four different species of penguin in their own environment - the sub-Antarctic island of South Georgia. Each programme explores a week in the life of the penguins and is based in three different locations. This can only be a good thing, although there's not a single station entirely devoted to penguins (yet ...). Obviously, I will be expecting everyone to be watching intently - I will be requiring a 25 page essay on the series from each of you, by next Monday morning. Current Mood: excited |
